Most leaders pressure themselves to have all of the answers. They feel it’s their responsibility to direct, lead, and be in charge.
This pressure stops them from acknowledging & accepting any negative emotions (self/others). Positivity & Optimism gets overgeneralized, resulting in denial & invalidation of the entirety (positive & negative) of human emotional experience.
This is toxic positivity.
Instead the need of the hour, is for the leaders to be authentic in acknowledging negative emotions as well & be vulnerable about their own limitations.
This helps
- Build greater bonds
- Truly inspire teams.
- Establish deeper emotional connection.
- Decreases stress & tension for self & others.
- Increases flow of Ideas, creativity & innovation.
Being open & honest about who we truly are, inspires others way more than projecting false optimism & positivity.
